Reflections on the Recent Past: Holiday Tea 2009

by Catherine Davis, ’70, MM’76

My invitation to the spring tea came in Saturday’s mail and triggered the thought that I should share with my fellow Cookies some of my pictures from our last major alumnae get-together, December’s holiday tea.

Outdoors, Saturday, December 12, 2009 was a nice day, warmer and sunnier than usual for December. Inside Martha Cook, the atmosphere was warm and sunny too, but then it always is when the building’s alumnae gather there.

We met in the Gold Room and helped ourselves to tea and goodies, both from a central table in front of the north fireplace and also from plates of cookies scattered around the end tables and benches. The items in the center of the table that look like Christmas gifts are really decorated cakes that were most yummy!

Current Martha Cook resident and chair of the 2009 Messiah Dinner Musicale, Sarah Cravens, played background music while guests mingled and also organized our short “formal” program, a reprise of part of the Messiah Dinner Musicale: 3 solo performances and a medley by the Cookie Chorale.

It was a day when Cookies could share their college home with family and friends.

Cynthia Farina BSN’83 brought her daughters to tea.

So did Anjanette Stoltz ’88, MD’91.

Nancy Short ’03 brought her mother.

All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon
